Unlearning……the RED pill?
Learning creates a boundary inside our brain. Things we are taught since childhood, most of which we learn just by perceiving the behaviour of our elders, parents or society in general, creates an imaginary barricade within our brains beyond which it stops functioning. Even when sometimes our brain tries to find the relevance of any crap that normal people believe, subconsciously, our brain tells us it is wrong to question these things as it may hurt the “sentiments” of others. Hell, They can’t even take a joke on their faith.
“If your faith is so rattled by a joke, is it really that strong?”
- Vir Das
Now that I think of it, I find Unlearning to be the best way of tackling your senseless social conditionings and the way society has nurtured us to be. We have been taught how we have to act, react, interpret or deal with any given situations or thoughts, and people expect us to follow the norms set by this society. Many of us do follow them, and some are a bit mischievous. Why Mischievous? Cause they ask the question of “Why” every now and then? They need answers to anything that we have been taught to follow, respect, pray without any convincing reason just because it was said by our parents, family, elders or society, in general, all the way throughout our upbringing.
And when this question of “WHY” pops up into those big brains of ours and as we get curious, we start looking for answers, and there is quite a bit of possibility that you may end up UNLEARNING stuff voluntarily or subconsciously. We are meant to be curious by nature. Take evolution, for instance: we are supposed to learn and unlearn things and experiences in order to grow. Else what’s the point of calling ourselves the so-called next generation.
But here comes the tricky part, even when we are supposed to be questioning naturally, we are brought up in a way where our critical thinking ability is choked to death day by day as we grow. We have been told to patronize with all these lies about life, god, world, men, women, society, government, countries, past, and the list goes on. So I think it’s high time we start learning to unlearn stuff. At least initiate a conversation about it!!!
Well, what can I say? We are in the 21st century, and still, I frequently come across instances where the critical thinking of a kid is murdered daily as he grows up.
Now, the decision is yours you that you can take the blue pill and live in a beautiful prison or take the red pill and free ourselves from the enslaving control bestowed upon us.
